insulated conservatory roof

How to get an insulated conservatory roof

Get rid of condensation and odd temperatures with an insulated conservatory roof. You know it’s time to insulate your conservatory roof if you still have an old roof with transparent glazing.

This was perfectly normal a decade ago but now homeowners are catching on to the benefits of proper conservatory roof insulation. If you want a conservatory that doesn’t turn into an oven in the summer and a fridge in the winter then our Warmer Roof range of tiled, insulated conservatory roofs is for you.

Insulation prevents any problems relating to condensation and will prevent the build-up of dampness within the roof – not to mention lower heating bills from an energy efficient conservatory roof all year round.

How long does it take to install an insulated conservatory roof?

Your new roof will only take 2-3 days to install, so you can expect to be enjoying your conservatory very quickly! This is because our roofs are prepared to cover any conservatory type, such as: Lean To, Edwardian, Victorian and more!

Does conservatory roof insulation work?

With an insulated conservatory roof from Warmer Roof you will be able to better control the temperature of that room, preventing heat escaping through the roof, retaining heat longer and saving you money on your heating bills. If you ever do decide to sell your home, you can expect your new conservatory to add to its value, as an added Brucie Bonus.

You will also notice that the acoustics, the sound of your conservatory, will improve and you won’t hear the loud drumming of rain on the roof.

Can you buy insulated conservatory roofs in different colours?

What would life be without choice and creativity? Everyone’s different and here at Target Windows we want to ensure you get your dream conservatory. Warmer Roof tiled roofs come in a variety of colours and styles so you can find the right match for your home.

Our roofs come in several different styles:

Edwardian insulated conservatory roof

Many people with old conservatories will more than likely have an Edwardian conservatory style. This style offers more space and can easily be adapted with an insulated conservatory roof, without having to start from scratch.

Gable end insulated conservatory roof

A conservatory in this style is usually square or rectangular for maximum space and provides a more modern living space. This gable end insulated conservatory roof is ideal for adding more of a feature to your home, if you are looking to create an impressive space to entertain guests.

Victorian insulated conservatory roof

This classic English design is adaptable to any building shape and brings a sense of Victorian grandeur. Existing conservatories in this style can easily have a roof replacement.

Lean to insulated conservatory roof

If you want to open up your home and bring a little of the outside in, then a lean to is the answer. This style has large glass patio doors or bi-folding doors, with a choice of full height window frames to ensure you get as much natural light as possible.

Can I still have windows in an insulated conservatory roof?

If you still want some natural light coming through the roof of your conservatory, no problem, simply choose a model with skylights. Contact us to find out what options are available.

Why do we use Warmer Roof?

Other brands will use an aluminium skeleton, which have a risk of condensation build up and their performance can be overly reliant on the quality of materials available at the time. At Target Windows you get what you pay for and you pay for quality.

Our insulated conservatory roofs have:

  • An all timber construction
  • No aluminium skeleton
  • No chance of condensation build-up
  • Proven effective technology
  • A fast turnaround time
  • High quality materials guaranteed

Lichfield Street housing Stoke

Target Windows helps transform overgrown land into multi-million-pound quality housing estate

A Stoke-on-Trent company has won a contract to fit windows and doors for a multi-million-pound housing estate which will transform Hanley.

Target Windows, based in Meir Heath, will be working alongside main contractor Novus Property Solutions, based on Festival Park, to build 128 homes and apartments off Lichfield Street.

The project is being delivered by Fortior Homes, owned by Stoke-on-Trent City Council, and will transform an overgrown patch of land, vacant since 2005, into high profile private rented accommodation.

Target Windows director Guy Basnett said: “We are extremely proud and excited to have been chosen to work with Fortior Homes for supplying windows and doors on this project. It’s something that will be very prominent in the city, situated on one of the main arteries into Hanley and is something we as a local, family-run business want to be involved with.

“We are glad to see Fortior investing in the Stoke pound and keeping things in the local economy and look forward to redeveloping our city and playing a part in providing good quality housing for Stoke-on-Trent and securing jobs for our workforce.”

The development, located next to the Emma Bridgewater Factory, will provide a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments and low-rise two and three-bedroom houses and apartments with parking. Target Windows will be proving aluminium curtain walling on the apartments, as well as all the UPVc windows and doors.

Councillor Joanne Powell-Beckett, the city council’s cabinet member for housing, said: “This exciting project will not only help satisfy the huge need for private rented housing within Stoke-on-Trent but will transform an overgrown site, which has remained undeveloped for over a decade and currently detracts from the character of the area. It will also benefit from three new roads which will improve traffic flow.

“I’m pleased a local business has won the contract for this development, ensuring we keep the Stoke pound in the city and that we are supporting the local economy.”

Secured by design

How to improve your home security with Secured by Design

You can easily improve your home security by using products supported by Secured by Design – the official UK Police initiative supporting the principles of ‘designing out crime’.

The scheme promotes the use of security standards and products receive the stamp of approval once they have met Secured by Design’s rigorous testing guidelines, giving you better piece of mind.

Research has indicated that homes using products and materials that meet Secured by Design’s standard are up to 75% less likely to be burgled and show a reduction of 25% in criminal damage.

When should you consider improving your home security with Secured by Design?

Old frames, especially timber ones, are likely to have been saturated by rain and mould, and over the years their defence against the elements lessens, which can weaken the frames.

Old glazing can often lead to condensation building up in your windows, revealing gaps in the panels and making it easier for thieves to break in.

If this sounds familiar, it’s time to upgrade the security of your windows and doors. Secured by Design windows come with fully reinforced frames and more secure glass units, especially where a window can be susceptible to break ins like a window at the back of the property. Ground floor windows usually have laminated glass, which is 6.4mm thick compared to the standard 4mm.

Get in touch today and our friendly team will be able to guide you on the best products to suit all budgets – 01785 811558.

What else can you do to improve your home security?

  • If your budget is limited, focus on doors, locks, windows and perhaps a small safe for your valuables.
  • Choose a supplier by looking for products with the Secured by Design Police Preferred Specification logo, as these meet high standards.
  • When buying a new a door it is better to buy a new door set, the complete assembled frame and door, certified to British Standard PAS 24-1 ‘Doors of Enhanced Security’.
  • If your door is PVCu or Composite then it should be fitted with a Multipoint lock.
  • When buying patio doors ask for the sliding section to be on the inside and for anti-lift blocks. Multi-locking systems are recommended or have mortise security bolts with removable keys at the top and bottom of both doors.

why you should upgrade your windows

Seven reasons why you should upgrade your windows

A new report has revealed the top reasons why you should upgrade your windows.

Eurocell’s The Future Home Report ranked energy efficiency as the top reason and improved durability at the bottom of the list, created from the findings of a survey of 1,000 25 to 40-year-olds who either own or rent homes.

According to homeowners, the top reasons why you should upgrade your windows were:

  1. Improved energy efficiency (52%)
  2. More natural light in the home (38%)
  3. Noise reduction (35%)
  4. Because they’re old or broken (25%)
  5. Security (24%)
  6. Aesthetics (19%)
  7. Improved durability (9%)

In the survey, 52% of people said they wanted to see windows with higher energy levels. Sustainable materials were also in demand, with 26% of people saying they wanted to see these used more. Floor-to-ceiling windows were a hit in terms of design trends.

Our windows make more of ambient heat. In winter, the energy efficient coated glass used in our windows retains warmth within the home. It’s also designed to exploit radiant heat energy from the sun. These properties result in significant fuel savings compared to a single glazed dwelling.

Here’s why you should upgrade your windows to an energy efficient option: by choosing an energy efficient window, you can reduce condensation in your home; reduce your carbon footprint; reduce your energy bills and add value to your property.

Industry Price Rises

A message to our customers

For the past year, our suppliers have been holding back increases to material costs to help us keep our products as competitive as possible. The raw materials that create our UPVc, glass and hardware are just some of the elements needed to make a beautiful looking window or door.

After lengthy meetings with our suppliers over the last six months, they have made it clear that they cannot keep absorbing the price increases and will now have to pass those increases onto us. Due to increased manufacturing costs of plastics and metal hardware, the industry as a whole will be affected.

We will try to keep price rises to a minimum and attempt to absorb some of the increases without affecting the quality service we pride ourselves on. We will continue to offer a brilliant product at a competitive price.

We understand that not many companies would openly acknowledge rising costs, but we have been in business for over 35 years now and we have always tried to be honest with our customers.

We thank you all for being our customers over the years and look forward to working for you again in the future.

Update your conservatory

Brighten up your home: how to update your conservatory

Has your conservatory been neglected for a while? If your dreams of bringing extra light and space into your home have dwindled since you first invested in your extension, then fear not, there are lots of ways to breathe new life into your home and update your conservatory.

Declutter your space

Don’t use your conservatory as a storage room or as an overflow section of your house. In order to brighten up the space in your home, you need to create space. The new year is a great excuse to clear out unwanted or unused belongings and give your home the fresh start it needs.

Avoid filling bookshelves and windowsills with too many belongings and create additional storage to avoid clutter build-up.

Update your conservatory

Temperature control

Is your conservatory unusable in the winter and a greenhouse in the summer? Controlling the temperature in your conservatory will make it a true extension of your home – and you don’t have double your heating bill to do so.

Older conservatories don’t always have the benefit of coated glass in their windows, meaning they’re not as efficient when it comes to maintaining a reasonable temperature in extreme weather. Not only will replacing your windows make the space more liveable but they’ll also reduce your energy bills – find out more here.

Another solution to temperature issues is to update your conservatory roof. Refurbishing your existing roof with newer, technologically-advanced tiling can help to regulate the temperature, creating a more comfortable space in your home.

This kind of roofing system can be installed in as little as three days, resulting in less stress and disruption to your household.

Brighten your décor

There are a number of ways to create more natural light in your home and take advantage of the light you do have. For example, once you’ve decluttered, take down any dark wall hangings or curtains that make the room feel more enclosed.

Using lighter, calmer tones and painting any wall space in a neutral colour palette will make the room feel more open and spacious. Other interior design tricks, such as adding mirrors and opting for high-shine flooring and furnishings, will reflect light instead absorbing it.

Embrace nature with a bi-fold

If you’re looking for a big impact in your conservatory or living space, try a bi-folding door and really brighten the room. Wall-to-wall glass will bring in enough light to boost anybody’s mood and allows you to appreciate your garden all year round. What could be better than a room with a view?

Bi-folding doors create a beautiful indoor/outdoor experience during the summer and will update the look of your home as well as your conservatory.
