Staffordshire’s Target Windows is reaching new heights this July as it prepares to take on Yorkshire’s famous Three Peaks Challenge in aid of Stoke-on-Trent MND sufferer, Anthony Lockley.
Led by director of Target Windows, Guy Basnett, a strong team of dedicated employees, who are all based at either the company’s Stone and Uttoxeter showrooms or Meir Heath Head Office, will take on the challenge this weekend, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July.
Team Target is raising money for Anthony Lockley – a friend of the family-owners and directors Jane Basnett and Mick Tune. Anthony was diagnosed with incurable MND (Motor Neurone Disease) at the end of 2021. Target Windows pledged to support Anthony and his family as they come to terms with this scary and life-changing news.
Mick Tune of Target Windows said: “We have known Anthony and his family for a long time. He is a much-loved member of the community and a truly decent stand-up guy so to learn the news that he has developed this scary and unforgiving condition was heart-breaking.
“He has worked hard all his life to bring up his family of two daughters and a wonderful son who has Down syndrome. All he’s ever done is work hard to give them a start in life, to then be struck down with this disease when he should be looking forward to finally retiring and having a rest. We really need people to dig deep to help him.
“The money raised will go towards hopefully giving the family a better quality of life, as well as funding much-needed physiotherapy aids, equipment, care and house adaptations as they learn to live with MND.”
Customers, colleagues and friends have been donating direct to Target Windows and via a dedicated Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/anthony-lockley-target-windows. So far, the company has raised and passed over £440 to Anthony and his family and hope that this next effort will be able to top up this total.
The company will also be installing a new front door at the family home in the next couple of weeks with an approved low access threshold that will make life easier getting in and out of the house. This has very kindly been donated by Central Window Systems – the company’s main supplier of windows and doors.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is an uncommon condition that affects the brain and nerves. It causes weakness that gets worse over time. With no known cure, MND can significantly shorten life expectancy, but there are treatments to help reduce the impact on a person’s daily life.
